What happens at an Info Session?

You will:

Learn about the MHHS mission, core values, and programs and services Review the qualifications and responsibilities of our open paid and volunteer opportunities Share you best questions and comments with our staff Take a tour of the shelter and see some of the animals and people that we serve.

How can I sign up to attend?

Info sessions are open to drop-ins, but advance registration is strongly preferred. Registration links are generated approximately two weeks in advance of each event date, and made available on the MHHS website until the day of the event.

What will I need?

You will need:

Photo ID (required for all visitors) A parent or guardian if you're under the age of 18 Sturdy walking shoes

What else should I know about visiting MHHS?

Info sessions take place in a variety of locations at the Lisa Mitzen Animal Care Center at 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY, 12204.

While visiting, you may be exposed to:

Live animals Animal waste and/or dander Cleaning solutions Peanut products

Let’s be frank: this is going to be fun! The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is rolling into MHHS for an afternoon of fun supporting animals and families in our community. Snap photos, meet Hotdoggers Tailgate Taylor and Chili Cheese Charlie, and pick up Wiener Whistles and other keepsakes while supplies last.  

Win a ride! Enter our On a Roll Raffle for a chance to take a short Wienermobile ride with up to three guests. Tickets are $10 each, available all this week at the MHHS front desk and during the event. Entries close October 26 at 6:30 p.m. All raffle proceeds support animals in our care. 

Bring something bun-derful: Donate pet food, animal care supplies, linens, or towels to support our shelter and Furry Friends Pet Food Pantry, sponsored by Goldstein Auto Group. Returnable cans and bottles are also welcome for our Goldstein Auto Group Empties for Animals program! 

Well-behaved and vaccinated dogs on leash are welcome.
