Humane Heroes Unleashed

HHU is a volunteer program for kids in grades 6-12. Participants will experience hands-on animal care and assist in animal shelter operations. It's a unique opportunity to work alongside shelter staff to better animals' lives. Participants are expected to take direction well and work hard!

Telling Tails

Telling Tails is a volunteer program for adults with children ages 5-17 to read to adoptable animals (mostly cats) at MHHS on Sundays, between 2-4 pm.

• Adults become volunteers, and are responsible for training and supervising their children.
• If your application is approved, we will send you an orientation and related virtual trainings for opportunities that you are interested in.
• For Telling Tails volunteers: a small start-up fee of $60 covers the cost of the background check, supplies, uniform and training.
• A background check is required.
• Please note: we use peanut butter throughout our facility.
