We were asked to take in this newborn French bulldog, now affectionately named Maeve, after she was abandoned at a local veterinary hospital in dire condition. Brave little Maeve was born with a severe cleft palate, leaving her unable to eat on her own, with a high risk of aspirating food or fluid into her lungs as well as the possibility of other genetic abnormalities. 

Maeve is now in the care of MHHS and we are working to help her survive while pursuing justice on her behalf. Our team is giving her round-the-clock care while our Humane Law Enforcement investigators work toward an arrest of the individual(s) who abandoned her.  If Maeve survives the next several weeks, she still faces a long road ... eventually leading to palate reconstructive surgery. Until then, she will need intensive daily care, including tube feeding by hand, to help her stay nourished and protect her vulnerable lungs.

We wish we could promise a happy ending for little Maeve, but she is extremely fragile and her ability to overcome this is uncertain. Right now, we are focused on giving her the chance to have one.
